Meal distribution services
To address heightened health risks during COVID-19, Specialty Family Foundation directed $5,000 to our partner Safe Place for Youth (SPY) to help fund the distribution of packaged to-go meals among youth experiencing housing and food insecurity. Funding also helped cover the cost of much-needed PPE (personal protective equipment) for SPY volunteers to help keep them safe while serving community members.
The COVID-19 crisis poses a significant risk to LA County’s unhoused youth, who face food as well as housing shortages that impact their ability to stay nourished, sheltered, and safe. Our targeted investment has enabled SPY to provide meal-distribution services, feeding over 100 vulnerable youth while helping protect volunteers on the front line.
